- Take a one and a half hour cruise, and see the settled areas
of the harbour from the water. Most boats have a boom-net and
you are bound to see Dolphins.
- Whale-watching in season May - November, 3 - 4 hours.
- Drive to the end of Shoal Bay Road and climb to the top of Mt
Tomaree for spectacular views and photo opportunities. Allow 45
minutes to one hour if you want to linger along the way.
- Drive to the Inner Light House. Inspect the restored light keeper's
cottage, the Coastal Patrol Station, visit the souvenir shop and
tearooms.
- Hire a bicycle from Shoal Bay Bike Hire. They will deliver to
Nelson Bay B & B or to the ferry if you plan to cycle at Tea
Gardens and Hawks Nest. Shoal Bay Bike Hire (02) 4981 4121.
- Take the noon ferry to Tea Gardens. Lunch or cycle. You'll be
back by 3:30 PM.
- Sand-dune experience. Sand-boarding for an hour or explore at
length with the Bushmobile. Bookings 0500550066 or at the
Visitor Information Centre.
- Drive to Fingal Bay and picnic or BBQ in Barry Park. Get goodies
from the deli in Cascade Walk.
- On Sundays historic Tomago House is open to the public from
11am - 3pm. You can explore this beautiful house and nearby chapel
and have Devonshire Tea or lunch in the dining room or on the
verandah. A very pleasant stop on your way home.
- Laze at one of 20 beaches.
